The Elgol Sunrise was taken on my last visit to the Isle of Skye in February 2018. I was staying near Kyleakin (quite close) and woke super early and set off to get to Elgol before the sunrise.
Driving down the frost covered road in the dark was a bit tricky and the steep hill dropping down to the car park was thankfully clear of ice.
As luck would have it there was no sunrise even though the met office said there was a good chance I still got set up on some rocks and took several shots looking across to the Cullins through the cloud cover. I then started looking for good spots to do some long exposures including the swirling sea. I really like this photograph, it sums up how it was there but I could have lightened it up a bit as a few people have commented on the darkness of the shot.
