The second and slightly more adventurous photoshop comp features a shot of a Harris Hawk taken at the National Centre for Birds of Prey at Duncombe Park in Helmsley, North Yorkshire (a really great place to see Birds of Prey) and all the birds look really well looked after.
I printed out the hawk image and in pencil drew on it to get a proof of concept, once I was happy that it would work I started to sift through old images for the background.
I lit the model with speedlights sat on a stool and used a mix of my old shots of the Hidden Valley in Glencoe and part of a shot of Bolton Castle for the background and then added a few shots of some red kites taken at Harewood with some drawings of kite riders added to them.
The model was wearing a pink jumper and blue jeans so there was quite a bit of work to create the suit of armour which I did using some of my old textures and drawing in the other areas using a Wacom tablet.
I really should have counted up roughly how many hours went into this one as there was loads of re-working the images.
